For Feng Shui practitioners, BaZi is indeed an indispensable tool. This is because BaZi provides the diagnosis that forms the foundation for the prescription in Feng Shui.

Feng Shui only helps if a person has a good Destiny and suitable Luck in the first place. By studying a person’s Destiny and Luck, we can then find out what the 'real' problems are, and proceed to take the correct Man Luck (human actions) or right Feng Shui (Earth Luck) to help find a solution. Ba Zi is perhaps one of the most important diagnostic tools known to humankind that helps to understand a person.

In other words, think of a good Ba Zi (or Destiny Chart) as akin to owning a good car…say, a Porsche. You must know how to drive it, though, and know what it is capable of doing! If you do nothing with it - or drive it on bumpy roads all the time - it would be a waste of an excellent vehicle. After all, the best tool in the world must still be wielded by a master, which brings to mind this English adage: "A poor workman blames his tools."

And contrary to popular misconception, Feng Shui is NOT a panacea…not a one-cure-for-all art. What works for one person will not always produce the same results for another.

Moral of the story: Don’t copy someone else’s Feng Shui, even if you share identical Ba Zi Charts!
